Moneyball

How can you not be romantic about baseball?

There is something about this movie that just gets me every time. I could easily place this movie on the list of the best things I’ve bought. And I think it deserves every award that it has been nominated for.

When Scott Hatteberg hits that homerun, I get the chills. When I watch the trailer, I get the chills. When they show the footage of Jeremy Brown, I get the chills. I can’t help but be emotional about this movie, it just brings something out in me.

People have asked me about a salary cap in baseball and what my opinions are, but I never answer. I don’t want to talk about the money aspect because it just blows my mind the amount of money that some players are making. But if they are as passionate about the game as I am then are getting paid to do something they love and I can’t justify being mad about that. Because one day, I want to get paid to do something that I love.

Moneyball is a movie that I don’t plan on getting sick of because the story inspires me. It reminds me about loving this game and that even a team of misfits can achieve the impossible. Numbers mean everything in baseball. Why do you think we keep track of everything? And the 2002 Oakland Athletics were playing the numbers game. And they’ve changed the way that most people think about baseball.

I am romantic about baseball. I fell in love with it a long time ago and I will love it for a lot longer, too.
