Photographs

There’s this saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. Almost nothing compares to having that winning moment immortalized to help us remember things forever. The winning touchdown, the first home-run, a baby’s smile, and your group of friends – through all the changes in life pictures are their to document them.

I just started taking a photography class at my college and I’m already in love with it. It’s a black and white, film photography class. I’m so excited to learn techniques and information that will transfer over into digital photography, but for now I’m enjoying the time that I get to spend in the dark room watching my pictures develop.

Today was the first day that I took pictures for class. A friend from the class and I went to the lab and got out pinhole cameras (a paint can with a hole in it) and went around campus taking pictures of the cool scenery that we are surrounded by.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I fell in love with a few of my shots from the day, but there is something cool about photography. It’s subjective. A picture can mean one thing to me and another thing to you and that makes it exciting. No two people see a picture the same way. It’s like laying on the ground and looking up at the clouds trying to find the shapes; you see one thing and your best friend sees another.

Photography may become a hobby of mine and it would be a great thing to add to the repertoire of things that I can do. 🙂
