A Musical Closing Ceremony

For me, the Closing Ceremonies was just a large concert. It seemed like it was musical number after musical number. And almost all of them were performed live (the rest came through videos).

I was excited to see the Spice Girls perform because I grew up listening to them. But otherwise I didn’t care for all the musical performances. Yes, I know, there were lots of Beatles’ songs performed, but I’m not on that bandwagon.

Closing Ceremonies is a sad time for me. See, I love the Olympics – in a way that some may call obsessive. I live and breathe just about everything that is sports related. I love the competition between the nations. I love knowing that someone somewhere across the world was watching the same sporting event I was. I love that it brings the entire the world together for two weeks.

The London Olympics just went by too fast for me. I wasn’t quite ready for them to be over. Maybe that’s because they only happen every four years. Maybe because due to travel, I missed the first few days – and the swimming & gymnastics, a favorite of mine. Maybe because I wanted so desperately to be there that they just flew by. Now I’m going to wait almost impatiently for 2016 and the Rio Olympics.
