One At Bat

His career ended in his first Major League at-bat. The crazy thing – it wasn’t even official. Why? He was hit with the very first pitch that was thrown at him.

Adam Greenberg has an amazing story. He was on the Chicago Cubs roster in 2005. He was asked by Dusty Baker (now manager of the Cincinnati Reds) to pinch hit.

He made contact with the ball, just not the kind any ballplayer would like to make. He was hit in the head, fortunately helmets are involved now, and his career ended like that. He suffered from a concussion (before they became very serious sports injuries that we now see are monitored by the MLB and NFL) and dealt with other issues like vertigo, blurry vision and even had problems with his equilibrium.

Now there’s a petition for him to get one more at-bat, an official one.

He’s 31-years-old and the chances of him actually getting this opportunity are slim to none. But watch the video, learn more about Greenberg and think about giving him his one at bat. I would.
