#thanks: sports

This will probably not be my only post about sports this month. They are very much a part of who I am. My desired profession is sports writer.

My weekend was chalk full of homework. My to-do list still has things left on it that I have to tackle while I’m at work tomorrow on top of actually doing, you know, work, that I’m getting paid for.

Yesterday was a big day for college sports in Michigan. Growing up, I was a Michigan fan. In college, I was a Michigan State fan. I’m not super invested in college sports, like I am the ones at the professional level, so pardon my flip-flopping of teams. My car still has a Michigan State “S” on the back of it, so I guess I’m still somewhat a MSU fan.

Since it was the big game, I decided to watch it. It was the first college game I’ve watched this year. I knew the hype about the game – MSU’s defense was strong and there’s always that “little brother” complex and Michigan is well, Michigan, and still considered to be a football powerhouse.

During the first half, I saw that Michigan State defense at it’s best – it was even better in the second half when they didn’t allow any points. However, I wasn’t sure if MSU would pull away with the game either. I thought it might be a repeat of last year with a team winning onĀ  a field goal at the end of the game.

It was nice to see MSU get the win. Living near downtown Indianapolis, I am within a short distance of Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the Indianapolis Colts) where they play the Big Ten Championship game. I have never seen MSU play football live before. Last year, during my November blog, I wrote about going to a Michigan game with a close friend, my second Michigan game ever. By beating Michigan, MSU has a chance to play in this big game and if I can get the chance I will be going to see them play in person for the first time.

I spent this morning working on my homework to-do list because I wanted to be able to go out and watch the Colts game with some classmates tonight. I only stayed for half of the game because I had so much to do, but it was still nice to get out for a little bit. (I’m done going out for awhile though. Not enough money & still so much to do…)

Today was also a big day as a Detroit Tigers fan. They named a new manager, officially. I’m excited about the new guy and I’m looking forward to what the season holds (and praying that it’s a World Series). How many days until pitchers and catchers report?
