There is this saying that “Diamonds are a girls best friend.”
Some girls would like diamond jewelry. It’s shiny and pretty and sparkles in the light.
That’s not the kind of diamond I want.
I want to spend my days on the baseball diamond. It may not be shiny, but occasionally it sparkles in the light – if you catch the sun off the reflection of a player’s sunglasses.
I’d even take this shirt.
No one knows the real reason behind why I want a princess cut stone on my engagement ring. It’s because if I look at it from just the right angle, it has the same shape as a baseball diamond.
There I said it. I’m obsessed. It’s obvious in my day-to-day life. I want to know as much about baseball as I possibly can and the only way I can do that is if that diamond becomes my best friend.
Baseball is always going to be around. Friends come and go, but that diamond is going to last forever. It won’t leave me when I screw up and it won’t get mad at me for not being able to make it to every game. It’ll always be there for me.
We’ll have our ups and downs because I’ll see some victories out on that field. I’ll also see some really upsetting defeats, but no matter what I won’t turn my back on my best friend.
Baseball will always be an important part of my life; I might as well call that diamond my best friend.
