Blessings: workouts that don’t feel like workouts

So I’ve been desperately trying to go back to the gym everyday. It doesn’t always work, but I do try to find some way to exercise at least once a day. Sometimes I take walks with my mom around the beautiful little town we live in. We bundle up (cause it’s starting to get so cold) and walk through the downtown. It’s beautiful at night and I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be as the Christmas lights are put up (but that’s not until AFTER Thanksgiving…)

Tonight, though I found a place that has pick-up volleyball. I haven’t played competitive volleyball since my last year at SAU during intramurals, but it felt so good to be back out on the court tonight. One of the things that I really enjoy about playing volleyball is that it doesn’t really feel like I’m working out. I’m not going to the gym and walking on the treadmill or doing the elliptical. I’m going to a gymnasium and playing a sport with other people.

For my first night, I was a little rusty, but overcame it quickly. There are a lot of things that I remember how to do just from muscle memory. I even did a dive roll (I was a bit slow to get up because it was the end of the night and I was getting tired).

For today, my blessing is being able to work out and not really feel like I’m working out. What an amazing thing that is, now if only I can get every other workout to feel the same way. 😉
